Fall 2009 Finance & Accounting Internship
International Justice Mission is a human rights agency that secures justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. IJM lawyers, investigators and aftercare professionals work with local officials to ensure immediate victim rescue and aftercare, to prosecute perpetrators and to promote functioning public justice systems.
Finance and Accounting interns assist their department with monitoring and support of finances in both Headquarters and 14 international field offices. College students, recent graduates, and graduate students with classes in accounting, finance or business are preferred for these positions. Although tasks vary depending on the nature of the work in progress during the internship, interns can expect their tasks to include:
1.Processing expense reports, including payment requests, credit card reports, and cash advance reconciliations;
2.Preparing and recording financial data from expense reports in IJM’s accounting system;
3.Researching various regulatory and procedural matters for the finance department; and
4.Providing general support to finance department, principally Director of Accounting and Accounts Payable Manager.
