Help children discover a love for reading! Reading Buddies spend one half-hour with their buddy each week. You’ll get to build a bond with your buddy, as well as show him/her the value of adult support. Based on the student’s reading level, Reading Buddies read to the child, read with a child, or have the child read to them.

Time Commitment: 1/2 hour once a week (eith Tuesday or Thursday afternoons 5:30pm-6:00pm)

Participants: children aged 3-12 (students are assigned by NCFC staff)

Volunteer Ratio: 1:1 or 1:2

Sites: ASAP (1722 6th St. NW), LEAP (421 P St. NW)

Fill in the Volunteer Form and mail it into New Community for Children, 1722 6th St. NW, Washington DC 20001, fax it to 202.332.9798, or email to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Reading is a very good habit. Actually, we need to know which topic our children prefer to read. They will like to read when they feel interesting with that topic. If not, they will just read for nothing.
