Day 40: Seeking God to fill the world with His glory

Adrienne Hancock · March 16, 2008 · 3:00 AM

We have spent 40 days seeking you, God. Today we welcome you and celebrate your miracles, your gifts, and your Holy presence!! We honor you as our King. We want to follow you and serve your Kingdom. You have revealed your power and given us directions to spread the word of your Word. We are physically and spiritually challenged, but renewed by you alone. There are some of our neighbors who still don’t get it. It is so sad that they are missing out! We continue to lift them up to you, Father. Become the neon light they are hoping for. Revive their deadened hearts like only you can do.
We will praise you, forever, Jesus!! Welcome to town! Welcome to our hearts! We sought you and found you, HALLELUJAH!!

Day 39: Seeking God for His dwelling amidst His people

Adrienne Hancock · March 15, 2008 · 10:45 AM

You are here with us now, God. Open our eyes to you. Take off the blinders of busy-ness and pressures of life. You are glorious!! Praise you O God!! I want to soak you up and feel the fullness of your presence. I long for your blessing, Father. Show me all your ways so I can marvel at your ingenious plan for this world. You are in our midst as an active participant in our lives, yet you are God of the universes!! Too much for me to comprehend!
I pray for those who are still blind to your presence. Show them how you work in us, reveal the Holy Spirit to them. You came to earth once in flesh, but you continue to dwell among us in spirit. Turn hearts to recognize that and worship you God.

Day 38:  Seeking God for courage to contend for righteousness

Debra de los Reyes · March 14, 2008 · 6:52 AM

Father God,

You reign in righteousness and justice.  You love us so much that You sent Your son Jesus Christ as our Redeemer so that we would have life.  We thank you for Your sacrifice to save a dying world.  We thank you for You the hope and promises You give us for the day when You come for us.  We wait expectantly Lord.  Sometimes with very little hope for the events happening around us that strive to bring death to the people of the world.  God come and bring your hope to those that are hopeless.  God come bring life to those that are dying.  God come show us Your mighty hand so that we may see Your greatness.  God come with Your justice so that those who are victimized are set free.  God we need Your courage to stand against the evil that strives so hard to destory us.  Help us to stand up for what is right in Your eyes God, not man’s.  Help us to be persistent in crying out for justice.  To be patient for Your justice as we cry out.  God you are the YAWEH, the I AM that brought your children out of Egypt, we ask You to come again.  In Jesus Name, Amen.

Day 37:  Seeking God for abundance with contentment

Debra de los Reyes · March 13, 2008 · 4:00 AM

God of Provision and Comfort,

You are so faithful to us.  You promised to fill our needs, yet we look elsewhere for comfort.  We think our comfort is found in money or food.  Our greed has us always searching but never finding.  Why?  Why do we look in the wrong places?  Why do we insist on making life harder for ourselves?  Why do we find it so hard to turn to You?  When You tell us that we will be satisfied with Your goodness.  As a country we are losing the inheritance of what we were founded on.  God touch our souls, redeem us, instead of sadness give us joy.  Instead of disappointment give us the anticipation of Your awesome goodness.  Bless our land Father God.  Provide us with an abundance that can only speak of Your greatness and grace.  Help us to receive the contentment that comes from Your joy.  In Jesus Name, Amen

Seeking God to restore desolate communities

Bradley Rhein · March 12, 2008 · 2:11 AM

Lord, how do communities become broken down, isolated and full of despair?  The hopelessness of the parents passes on to their children and on and on; how can the cycle end?

Lord, send your presence to these communities, for you have compassion for those without a shepherd.  Awaken the laborers you chose to put their hands and feet to work in these communities, bringing light and dreaming dreams and spreading hope to those in need.  May these once lost communities be restored in such a way that the future generations are surprised to hear how things once stood.  Amen!

Seeking God for awe in tremendous moves of God by prayer

Bradley Rhein · March 11, 2008 · 2:11 AM

Father, thank you for hearing us when we pray!  We lift our eyes up to you, maker of heaven and earth; let us remember that!  Lord, enlarge our prayers as we seek you, may we be led to pray ridiculously by your Spirit and according to your will.  Give us vision that can only come from you and confidence to dare to believe that you are moving in ways too wonderful for us to comprehend.  Thank you Lord!

Day 34: Seeking God for the joy of liberation

Beth · March 10, 2008 · 1:00 AM

Almighty Liberator, we praise your name for setting us free.  Lord, you are so amazing in the way you break our chains, carry our burdens, and set us free. Father, we ask you to continue to save us from being a slave to darkness, and oh Lord, set us free in the areas where we are still chained. Set our family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers, free. Father, please let the spiritually dead come alive, let the brokenhearted heal, let the spiritually blind see, and let the lost be found. Father, may the enemy flee in fear for your hand is upon our lives and we serve a mighty God.

Amen.

Day 32: Seeking God to declare peace

Beth · March 09, 2008 · 7:17 PM

From Iris…

Heavenly Father,

Thank you that we can come before you to ask you for peace. Lord, because of lack of peace we suffer much. Because of lack of peace we cry out to you, asking you to speak it into our lives, in all the forms that it is needed. We ask you to speak peace between husbands and wives; speak your peace between parents and their offspring; speak your peace where there is strife and where communication lines lay torn.

Holy Spirit descend upon us soon with peace in Your hand, and move our hearts to reach out for it, because it is in Your heart to give it. You are “the best negotiator at human conflict resolution in the universe” ...regardless of whether those conflicts are small or big in our eyes; You can resolve them the same if they are young or days-old.

Help us make a way for You. Fill the gaps between us, with You. Your Word says that Jesus “destroys the barrier of hostility between us.” Make that manifest, dear Lord. Heal the hurts and bless our efforts toward peace. Fill the breaches with “shalom,” putting an end to conflict and bringing about restoration to right relationship, to fulfill the complete dimension of that word. In the name of our loved Jesus, Amen.

Day 33: Seeking God for confident gladness in turmoil

Beth · March 09, 2008 · 1:00 AM

As I hear my children march around the house singing a song from Children’s Church, “i’ve got joy joy joy joy down in my heart” I am led to pray that we would be as joyful as children. That amidst this chaos, confusion, and turmoil, that we would notice all the things our Creator has done that we should be joyful about. Lord, I ask that we would be glad in all that we see, all that we hear, and all that we do. Father, let us recognize that you are steady, immovable, and supreme above all the chaos in our lives and in our world. Let us rise above the chaos and turmoil and be filled with the joy that only comes from you.

We ask you of this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Seeking God to Rebuild Devastated Cities

Rachel Johnston · March 06, 2008 · 3:00 AM

Creator,

We come to you knowing that it is only because of the strength you give us that we can do the work you have assigned.  Lord it is easy to fall into the trap of discouragement when we see sin and brokenness around us everyday.  We ask that you would encourage our hearts and give us an energy and excitement to do your will.  Please keep us focused on the goal of bringing people to know you so that you can do transformative work in their lifes.  God we ask that your church would be a light that would reach beyond itself and out into this city, so that others could have a taste of what it is to know you and through that they would find you.  Reveal yourself in this place in our time.  We love you.

Amen.
